International Seminar in Renca: Chile and Japan on Carbon Neutrality Development

On November 21st, 2024, the Municipality of Renca and Toyama City held the International Seminar "Towards Carbon Neutrality: Technologies and Financing Mechanisms" at La Fábrica de Renca.

The seminar, part of the City-to-City Collaboration program promoted by Japan's Ministry of the Environment, focused on advancing sustainable city development and sharing experiences as an SDGs model city. Representatives shared insights on successful Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) projects in Chile and innovative environmental technologies from Toyama, highlighting the potential for expanded collaboration between both regions. Participating institutions included the Embassy of Japan in Chile, Nippon Koei, and the Municipalities of Renca and Toyama.

A key component of the seminar was a discussion panel moderated by our Managing Director, Gonzalo Díaz Pearcy, featuring representatives from Tehmco, Municipality of Renca, Agencia de Sostenibilidad Energética, and Toyama City. The panel explored practical approaches to achieving net-zero goals through technology implementation and financial mechanisms.

Additionally, during the week’s stay of the delegation, they met with local organizations to explore collaborations in renewable energy projects and electromobility initiatives, reinforcing both cities' commitment to sustainable development.
