FIRST JCM MODEL PROJECT IN CHILE
UNIVERSITY SOLAR POWER GENERATION
The university Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María, together with MGM Innova Capital, managed to obtain in 2016 the first subsidy for the Joint Crediting Mechanism in Chile.
This project consisted of installing a 992kW photovoltaic system distributed in 4 out of the 5 campuses of the University, which started operating in 2019. The same institution consumes the energy these PMGD plants generate, and the surplus is sold to the grid.
Currently, in operation, it is expected to contribute to an emission reduction of 517 tCO2/year and reduce the university's electric grid consumption.
